Applying Quality Function Deployment to Green Building Design and Performance Assessment in MalaysiaPages 179-190 Abstract:
The research paper uses the Quality Function Deployment (QFD) model to evaluate the green apartment project in Johor Bahru, Malaysia. This study involves 97 viable questionnaires given to the industry experts and potential users using the House of Quality (HOQ) tool. Through a systematic review of green building design standards and evaluation systems, the work quantifies user requirements to technical specifications and reveals essential quality attributes, including the energy efficiency rate, renewable energy use percentage, life-cycle price, and safety of materials. Main results are: the HOQ correlation matrix can exactly convert user demands into design requirements (e.g., prefabrication technologies decreasing lead time and expenses of construction), and it confirms the validity of the application of QFD in green architecture. The solutions offered were much better compared to the local markets standards in terms of energy efficiency and health measures.
